A chipmunk’s death…

This afternoon, while walking on a trail nearby my house, I came upon a chipmunk

He’d recently fallen from a tree, which I could tell from the color of the halo of blood surrounding his head.

Looking up through the canopy of branches, gold and green leaves, I located the limb from which I presume he had fallen. Had he only been one hop closer to the center of the tree – less than 1 foot – he would have landed on the soft grass instead of the pavement. He was so close to a safe landing.

What had gotten the chipmunk to this point in his life? He had two choices: the safety and security of the lower branches – the path more traveled, or taking a chance that others may not have the strength to do.

So – my dilemma – should I be mad at the chipmunk for taking one too many chances, and not going to safe route? Or should I be proud of him for having taken those chances – because so few have the courage.

It’s too bad little chipmunks can’t defy gravity…

“Creating Chicken Without the Egg”

I found a great article from a group of researchers at the University of Missouri who have been working on creating soy-based chicken – a substitute that looks, feels, and tastes like chicken.

As many of you know, I’ve given up meat, and am impressed with my options out there for meatless alternatives. Options are available for most types of meat, including chicken – but it’s not 100% – and I have accepted that fact.

Give the article a read, and hopefully you will find it interesting, like I did.

So – we got back from our trip to Provincetown with our friends Dan and John on Monday… and yes – it’s now Thursday and just now I am getting pictures of our trip up on the web.

Regardless, we had a fantastic trip, perfect food – awesome weather – great time with friends. Who can ask for anything more?

Sobriety Checks in Marlborough

We had a “first” experience tonight on the way home from seeing Into the Woods in Boston… not only did we see Tom Bergeron in person at the show, but there was a police blockade coming into Marlborough doing a sobriety check. Scott passed with flying colors (as always)…. but interesting none the less.

Do we really need to comment?

Enjoying the first day of Spring!

The day started off with us getting up late from being out in Boston last night. Brian jogged/ran while I rode my bike along side him; six miles all together, though the last two miles were walked. Brought the bike back in, and met up with Cathy and the three of us walked to Starbucks in downtown Marlboro. It is amazing out! Tonight, we’re heading over to Ray and Ann’s for Ray’s 34th Birthday. Should be a great night!!

Friday night – no solid plans – not sure where to eat… we stumbled upon DownCity in Providence. From the instant we saw the fabulous Drag Queen coming to seat us – we knew we were home…

Just a broken arm….

Yay! It’s just a broken control arm on my car – something that was a result of a recall that had been performed last year – so it’s covered. I have a feeling my car will never be the same – but at least I still have it. YAY!!!!

My Car died tonight. I think I hit a pothole a couple of days ago – not entirely sure. Where I think I hit the pothole – no hole exists. It’s just really strange.

Regardless, tonight we were driving, and I needed to put on the brakes to let someone into my lane. The car stopped, but the front driver’s side tire was never to move again. I’ve had this car for nearly 7.5 years and am really attached to it. I had spent so many hours in it – and it will be missed. What also will be missed with be not having car payments. It’s been a sad night. :~(
